Steak and Seafood? I got a lil time.
A couple of weeks ago I got invited to a media dinner for a brand new steakhouse at the Omni in Amelia Island called Bob’s Steak & Chop House. Bob’s just opened on March 1st, 2016.
What separates Bob’s from other steakhouses? It’s all about the beef. They only use Prime and the hand select their steaks from the top 2% of all beef. Every dish is made in house including their famous loaves of bread, pickles, sides, and desserts.
What is a Prime steak you ask?
According to primesteakhouses.com: Prime is the superior grade with amazing tenderness, juiciness, flavor and fine texture. It has the highest degree of fat marbling and is derived from the younger beef. That’s why Prime is generally featured at the most exclusive upscale steakhouse restaurants.

They kept the wine flowing like it was water =) I’m glad i didn’t drive, cause I wouldn’t have made it home.
Picked red peppers and pickles. You can definitely tell the difference between a Classic pickle and a homemade pickle. Every table had a jar of pickled goods, a nice signature touch.
Shrimp platter: My favorite was the huge cocktail shrimp in the front left drenched in cocktail sauce. I killed all the cocktail shrimp on the second round too.
The double bone-in pork rib chop. I chose the pork chop because my plus one’s got filets….smart. So fat and juicy. I couldn’t destroy this whole thing cause I ate too much shrimp, but I did finish it off the next day at lunch. I loved the homemade boozy applesauce (it has alcohol in it). I secretly love Mott’s applesauce, so this hit the spot and their famous glazed carrots. The carrot was surprisingly good! It had a sweet glaze, still had a lil snap to them, but was still easy to cut. You can’t just put a big ass carrot on a plate and it not be spectacular.

Im slowly starting to eat my way through Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island. So far my list is Me, Myself and Pies at the local market on the weekend, Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen, Hola Cuban Cafe, Salt and Coast at The Ritz Carlton, Bar Zin, and go ahead and add Bob’s Steak and Chop House if your feeling steaky.
In the end, Bob’s keeps it simple with high quality steaks and ingredients, house-made everything, and an upscale inviting interior. If you are in Amelia Island, check it out!
