I’m hungry. Chances are you are too or you will be.
One of the hardest things to do is pick a place to eat, let alone choose something from a menu. I go through this struggle on the daily. Riverside, Southside, Five Points, San Marco I really don’t care where it is or how far the restaurant is, if its good it’s getting in my belly.
Each course is verified and guaranteed to be delicious by yours truly.
5) Happy Hour oysters from Blue Fish Restaurant and Oyster Bar
Where: 3551 St Johns Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32205
Why: Happy hour is the best hour and Blue Fish has one of the best. It’s from 3pm-7pm everyday. A dozen oysters for $7 bucks…yes lawd! If your near the beaches, I would go to the Fish Co. for oysters. If not, go to the blue fish. They also have $3 Coronas, $6 Mussels, and a $6 Bone-in Mini Pork Osso Bucco that is tender and meaty. Thank you for the invite Mimi!

4) Carne Asada Fries from Si Señor (Picture by Instagram – Tiffstar1217)
Where: 3546 St Johns Bluff Rd S, Jacksonville, FL 32224
Why: If you’re from California, then you know about Carne Asada Fries! I’m from San Diego and this dish is one of the essential food groups. This is as close to California as your going to get people! **This is not on the menu, you have to ask for it!** Crunchy fried fresh fries, tender and juicy Carne Asada steak, guacamole, pico de gallo, melted cheese, and a queso drizzle what else do you need in life? Wash it down with some Mexican Orange soda and your golden. One thing I want to do is to get the fries with half Al Pastor and half Carne Asada Fries…stomach on growl.
3) Tostadas from Corner Taco
Where: 818 Post St, Jacksonville, FL 32204
Why: At first, I hated Corner Taco. Mainly for their corn tortillas, but ever since they switched to flour i’ve been a believer. The other day I was there and I saw that you could pay $1 extra to make any taco a tostada. What does this mean? It means you get a fried, crunchy shell with a layer of guacamole, fried black beans cooked with porchini mushrooms in a ham reduction. and cotija cheese, and a bigger serving of the meat of your choice. I love that the shell doesn’t break into 20 pieces when you take a bite. One of guilty pleasures is Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza and this takes it to the next level.
24 Hour Brisket Tostada
2) The Ancho Rubbed Porkchop from Biscottis
Where: 3556 St Johns Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32205
Why: Because its the best pork chop I’ve ever had. It is on the specials dinner menu and it reads: Ancho Rubbed Pork Chop: Caramelized Apple Butter Sauce, Baked Mac N’ Cheese, Sauteed Green Beans. How can you not order that? Truffle butter makes everything better. If you look closely its actually cut into strips for you. A couple of my friends went to Biscotti’s after I posted this and they agreed that it was tops in their books. Now their’s wasn’t nearly as pretty as this one but the taste was there. Perfectly grilled, smokey, but still moist on the inside, snappy green beans, and a hidden treasure of baked mac and cheese equals sex. This dish is usually $24, but the had a special Sip and Savor restaurant week menu going on and I got 3 courses including this one for $25…what a steal! I also won a $50 gift card for hash tagging #sipsavorJAX for this picture.
Where: 301 E Bay St, Jacksonville, FL 32202
Why: Olio is known for their Travel Channel featured: Duck Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Don’t get me wrong it’s good as fuck, but this here will make you think about life. Look at that fat ring, pair it with extra tender duck, and a perfectly charred crispy coffee rubbed skin. It was so good that after I ate this I spoke with the owner and were doing a special 5 Course dinner this Wednesday featuring: duck prepared 3 ways and you know damn well this is the highlight of the menu.
