A full day of eating w/ Kristen – 9/13/15

I haven’t had this much fun since New York. When I go to New York I stay with my cousin in Jersey City and we head to NYC from morning to night and eat and explore the city. This was the Jacksonville/ St.Augustine version =) I recently met Kristen from http://www.kristenpenoyer.com. She’s an awesome photographer that I met on Instagram. (Instagram – Kristen.Penoyer). I was thinking about places where she could spread her wings and Creme De La Cocoa came to mind. They have beautiful little desserts and the owners are cool as fuck.

Now that I didn’t have to go the house warming party that freed up brunch. We thought about about places to go and couldn’t figure out where to go. So i defaulted to Native Sun. I go here so much I should own stock.

They only do brunch on the weekends, so when i can i hit it up. I can’t get enough of the Blueberry Banana Pancakes! If they served pancakes during the week I would get it at least every other day. The bacon is ridiculous as well. A couple of months ago, they had a sign limiting the amount of bacon you could get….thats how good it is. It’s probably free range Charlotte’s Web.

The August Special: All-Veg: Beets, Carrots, Kale, and Spinach. I ask for 1 beet, light on carrot, and heavy kale and spinach. I use to juice at home, one time i juiced 2 huge beets and I got a crazy headache, I thought I was going to die. I was home alone with my head down on my dining table. The lady at Whole Foods told me that their is so many nutrients that it will fuck you up. She said you can eat cooked beets all day but raw beets not so much. I’ve watched them make this juice many times and it’s crazy to see how many vegetables it takes to go in this one cup. It’s well worth the $5. Normal price when not on special is $6-$7. I usually eat greasy, salty, sweet food so I always try to balance it with healthier noms.

Chef Nils shot my hand with a laser temp gauge and it was 95 degrees. Melts in your hand and in your mouth.

We were talking about going to the St. Augustine Distillery and then Ice Plant. I put it in the GPS and it turns out its in the same place. So much win! We can get drunk at the distill then stumble to the Ice Plant.

This can cost $22. I 1st tried these in a Chocolate Guinness Cake from Orsay. They had 2-3 as a garnish. Made me want to slap my momma. I asked the waiter about them and he basically told me they were Luxurious cherries. Wherever you try these always ask for extra.

Tartare. Kristen cracked a joke saying that I could eat Steak Tartare but I couldn’t order my burger medium rare. I can’t deal with the blood so we settled on medium.
